The new crash test was done in India. However, the scores and the detailed analysis are not available yet. B-NCAP officially announced that Harrier has got 5-star rating in its tests. Tata updated the Harrier earlier this year

The updated Tata Harrier has arrived with several exterior design tweaks and an improved cabin layout that offers more features. Additionally, it now provides enhanced safety features with standard six airbags and ADAS in top-spec variants. While the Harrier remains mechanically unchanged, it still delivers the reliable 2.0-litre 170 PS diesel engine with two transmission options: 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.

As the first automaker to send a car to Bharat NCAP for crash test ratings, Tata Motors has led the way for other manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra, and Kia, who have also begun submitting their models for testing. It’s great to see that all carmakers and automotive brands operating in India have shown their support for Bharat NCAP. They recognize that conducting vehicle tests in India instead of abroad for Global NCAP crash tests will be more cost-effective.

Introduced in August 2023, Bharat NCAP is a safety program initiated by the Central Government of India. Its main objective is to evaluate the safety of passenger cars sold in the country through rigorous crash tests. This program brings standardized safety ratings to the Indian automotive market. As a result, Global NCAP has decided to discontinue its “Safer Cars for India” initiative, no longer conducting crash tests for cars manufactured in India. To carry out the Bharat NCAP crash tests, the Central Government has partnered with the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT) located in Pune. This collaboration ensures that cars sold in India undergo comprehensive safety evaluations to protect the interests of consumers.
