Compact SUV

Upcoming Skoda cars

Skoda is working on a sub-4 metre SUV to take on the likes of the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, etc. Skoda has confirmed that this model is pretty much ready and could debut by the end of 2024. This new SUV will be based on a downsized version of the MQB A0 IN platform that underpins the Kushaq. We can expect the design and specifications to be shared between this SUV and Kushaq. Specs-wise, we could see the 1.0-litre turbo petrol same as the Kushaq. On the Kushaq, this engine is capable of producing 113bhp and 178Nm of torque. Feature-wise, we can expect a 10-inch infotainment system, electric sunroof, ventilated seats, digital instrument cluster etc. Pricing-wise, Skoda’s compact SUV could start from Rs 9 lakh and go to Rs 16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Superb

Upcoming Skoda cars

The Superb has been one of the star performers for Skoda in India. Though its sales may not be groundbreaking, it made Skoda an aspirational brand in the country. Globally, Skoda has launched the new-gen Superb, and we expect it to come to India. The new Superb comes with a sharper design and is 43mm longer than the outgoing model. In the interiors, we have several new features like a 13-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, wireless charging, level-2 ADAS, and park assist. In India, we can expect the Superb to continue with the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine paired with a DSG gearbox. Skoda is expected to bring the new Superb to India sometime next year.

After the Superb, Skoda could bring the enthusiast’s favourite the Octavia vRS to India. Skoda is currently evaluating its launch for the Indian market. It is expected to come through the CBU route in limited numbers. The Octavia vRS is one mean-looking car with a blacked-out front grille and a sharp headlamp design. Under the hood, the Octavia comes with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine paired with an electric motor with a total output of 241bhp and 400Nm of torque. With the battery pack, the RS iV has an electric range of 60km. As it is coming through the CBU route, it will be expensive. It could breach the Rs 45 lakh mark (on-road, Mumbai).

Another new Skoda car that was unveiled this year was the Kodiaq. Like the Superb, the new Kodiaq also grows in size being 61mm longer than the outgoing model. At the front, we have the traditional Skoda grille with sharp LED headlamps. From the front, the Kodiaq looks very similar to the Kushaq. Going with the trend, it also comes with connected tail lamps. In the interiors, we have a new dashboard layout a 12.9-inch infotainment screen. Other features include powered front seats, a digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof and more. In India, we can expect only the 2.0-litre turbo petrol that already powers the current Kodiaq. Skoda is expected to launch the new Kodiaq in the second half of 2024. The new Kodiaq price range could start from Rs 50 lakh and go to Rs 55 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

The last car on the list is the Enyaq iV, which is going to be the brand’s first EV in the country. Skoda has been testing the Enyaq in India for some time now and we expect it to be launched sometime in 2024. Unlike other EVs, the Enyaq comes with a beefed-up design with a grille very reminiscent of ICE Skoda cars. We have LED headlamps, but sadly no fog lamps. Overall the Enyaq looks quite muscular and sporty. The Enyaq is expected to come in its ‘80x’ variant which is the top-end model with all the bells and whistles. Globally this variant comes with a 77kWh battery pack giving it a claimed range of 513km (WLTP). Feature-wise, it comes with a 13-inch infotainment system with soft-touch materials, leather upholstery, an all-digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, and more. The Enyaq is expected to be launched by March 2024 and could be priced from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 60 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
