2024 Maruti Brezza: Underpowered Engine

The Maruti Brezza comes provided with a 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine. This unit produces around 101 bhp and 137 Nm of peak torque mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. Compared to rivals like the Tata Nexon and the Mahindra XUV3XO, the Brezza is significantly down on power. Tuned for efficiency, the 1.5-litre engine takes time to build speed and does not like sudden acceleration. So, if you are someone who loves driving enthusiastically, the Brezza will leave you wanting for more.

While the competition offers a choice of petrol, turbo petrol, diesel and CNG engine options, the Brezza is limited to only the 1.5-litre engine with petrol and CNG fuel options.

Lacks Features

The compact SUV segment is among the most fiercely competitive in the Indian market. So Maruti has handsomely equipped the Brezza with features like a large 9-inch touchscreen system, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, HUD, up to 6 airbags and more. However, compared to the competition, the Brezza lacks segment-leading features like a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone AC, ventilated front seats, digital instrument cluster and more. Rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and the Mahindra XUV 3XO also offer ADAS functions which have been a huge hit with the masses recently.

2024 Maruti Brezza: Quality Issues

The next reason is the quality of materials used. While competitors like Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO emphasise the use of soft-touch materials, Maruti continues to offer hard plastics which affect the overall appeal of the SUV. Additionally, the finish levels on some elements do not match the competition making it hard to recommend.

Not Value-For-Money

2024 Maruti Brezza value for money

Maruti has priced the Brezza between Rs 9.73 lakh and Rs 16.63 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The Maruti Brezza is one of the most expensive compact SUV models currently on sale in the country. This coupled with the lack of engine options and features, makes the new model less value-for-money compared to competitors like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
