Tata Curvv Rival Is Safer Than Curvv?

Tata and Citroen recently launched its coupe SUV, Curvv and Basalt in the country. While the Curvv being a Tata product it is expected to score better in terms of safety, but there were confusions among the buyers in terms of the Basalt. Having said that, the Basalt was recently crash tested by the Bharat NCAP! How well did it score? Will it be better than Curvv? Let’s know.

Citroen Basalt Safety – What’s New 

Citroen Basalt Safety

Citroen Basalt recently became the first non Tata car to be crash tested by Bharat NCAP. Talking about the results, Citroen Basalt scored a 4-star safety rating for both adult and child occupants in the crash test. Citroen was earlier doubted for its safety as the C3 and eC3 both had scored 0 star safety rating in Latin NCAP and Global NCAP crash test. However, even after being based on the same platform of the C3 models, Basalt managed to perform better in the crash test.

The tests on Basalt were conducted in August. The Tested variants include the You and the Plus for the NA petrol versions, and the Plus and Max variants for the turbo petrol versions with manual and automatic gearbox options. As for the results, the side movable impact and pole impact tests for adult occupants were rated as ‘Good’, while the front collision rating ranged from ‘Marginal’ to ‘Adequate’. Notably, the Adult protection score stood at 26.19 out of 32. Meanwhile, the child occupant protection was rated at 35.90 out of 49.

This four star rating showcases the solid safety, while it also indicates that the brand has now focussed on the safety aspect which were seen to be missing in its earlier products.

What Else? 

Citroen Basalt Crash Test

The Citroen Basalt was the first Coupe SUV launched in the country priced between Rs 9.33 lakh and Rs 16.32 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Talking about the sales, In August 2024, the model accumulated a total sales of 579 units, while in September the sales declined to 341 units. However, now with this exciting data released we expect the Citroen Basalt to have a surge in the sales.
