Toyota Fortuner Rival Gets Cheaper By Rs 6 Lakh!

Finally after a long wait, Toyota Fortuner is set to face new competition. Not literally new but an updated rival. We are talking about the Jeep Meridian facelift which has just launched at an aggressive pricing! This was bound to happen as the 7-seater SUV is now available with an option for 5-seater. 2024 Jeep Meridian – Price

With the 5-seater option coming into the line-up, the price of Meridian has significantly reduced. The SUV now starts from Rs 29.98 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the base Longitude variant. The range then goes all the way up to Rs 43.78 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the top Overland variant. Just for your reference, the base model price has gone down by close to Rs 6 lakh. Whereas the top model price has gone down by up to Rs 3 lakh!

What’s New?

With an update, the new Meridian gets some new features & technology. The most popular feature ADAS has now made it in the SUV. Apart from that, it gets a few more features in the list of connected car tech. And yes, the Meridian now gets a new beige & black interior colour theme. Rest, everything remains unchanged! It continues to get the same 10 inch digital instrument cluster & 10 inch touchscreen system.

Even the engine option is unchanged for the 2024 Jeep Meridian. The SUV continues to get the 2.0-litre diesel engine (168 bhp & 350 Nm) under the hood. The transmission options include 6-speed manual & 8-speed AT gearbox.

Overall, addition of few features, new colour theme, new variants & pricing are the only changes for the 2024 Jeep Meridian. Will the update really affect sales of Fortuner? Also, it seems that Jeep have missed an opportunity by not offering an option for a turbo petrol engine!
