In terms of safety equipment, the 2024 Punch offers 2 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, seat belt reminder and a reverse parking camera among others.  With these features Tata Punch is the one of the safest affordable SUVs under Rs 10 lakh. 

Talking about pricing, the Tata Punch is priced between Rs 7.25 lakh and Rs 12.10 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Tata Nexon 

The next affordable safe car on the list is again from Tata, just like the Tata Punch, Nexon is also a 5-star rated SUV in the country. The Tata Nexon was earlier tested under the GNCAP crash test facility, while recently it was tested by BNCAP and both of the crash test facilities awarded the Nexon with 5-star rating. Talking about the safety features, the Tata Nexon comes with Six airbags, an electronic stability programme (ESP), ABS, ISOFIX anchorages and reverse parking sensors among others in its package. 

Pricing-wise, the Tata Nexon is priced between Rs 9.39 lakh and Rs 18.71 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) making it a wise choice to be bought as an affordable safest SUV.

Nissan Magnite/ Renault Kiger

The next models on the list are the Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger compact SUVs. Both the SUVs were awarded with 4-star safety rating by the GNCAP. Talking about the safety features, the new Nissan Magnite comes with 6-airbags standard, while the Renualt Kiger offers 4 airbags. Other safety features on both the models include ABS with EBD, ESP, TPMS and hill-start assist among others in its package. 

Pricing wise, the new Nissan Magnite is priced between Rs 7.04 lakh and Rs 13.79 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Talking about the Renault Kiger, it is priced between Rs 7.04 lakh and Rs 13.28 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Affordable Safe Cars – Citroen Basalt 

The next on the list is the coupe SUV from Citroen. Even though being based on the same platform underpinned by the C3 and C3 aircross, Basalt managed to secure 4-star safety rating under the BNCAP crash test.  Talking about the safety features, the Basalt offers features like 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill-hold assist, TPMS, reverse parking camera with sensors and more in its package. 

The Citroen Basalt is priced between Rs 9.33 lakh and Rs 16.32 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Tata Tiago/ Tata Tigor 

One of the cheapest and safest cars in India are the Tata Tiago and its sedan counterpart, Tata Tigor. Both the models were tested by the GNCAP and were awarded 4-star safety ratings. In terms of safety, the models get their hands on features like Airbags, Seat Belt Warning, Child Lock, Anchor Points for Child Seat, Overspeed Warning and more in its package. 

Talking about pricing, the Tata Tiago is priced between Rs 5.93 lakh and Rs 9.93 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). While the Tata Tigor is priced between Rs 7.10 lakh and Rs 10.65 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
