Tata Altroz Racer TVC shows what the Hyundai i20 N-Line rival will offer

To rival the likes of the hot hatch i20 N-line from the South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor India, the country’s third largest carmaker Tata Motors at the Auto Expo 2023 took the covers off of its very own hot hatch the Altroz Racer. This all-new sportier iteration of its premium hatchback Altroz will be launched in the coming few months in the country. Following its official unveil the company has now also released the official TVC of the Altroz Racer as well.

In the recently released TVC, the all-new hot hatch has been shown in great detail and the newest features of the vehicle have been highlighted. The first major highlight apart from the sportier dual-tone exterior color is the new 10.25-inch touchscreen unit with a new software update. The TVC also adds that the new Altroz Racer will come equipped with ventilated front seats, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, an Air purifier, a voice-activated electric sunroof, and a wireless charger. Apart from the Altroz Racer will also get new all-black upholstery with red contrast stitching, red and white stripes, and Racer embossing on the head restraints along with six airbags.

The exterior of the Altroz Racer is identical to that of the standard Altroz in terms of design but will feature some minor aesthetic differences. Some of these changes include a blacked-out top and bonnet, twin white racing stripes, and Racer insignia on the front fenders. The Altroz also receives a more noticeable rear spoiler as well as a shark fin antenna.

The Altroz Racer’s powertrain is one of its main highlights; while it has the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine as the Altroz iTurbo, it now produces 120hp and 170Nm of torque – 10hp and 30Nm more than the iTurbo. The Altroz Racer now has the same power as the Hyundai i20 N Line, which has 120hp but 2Nm greater torque (172Nm) than the Racer.

As if yet it has not been confirmed by Tata Motors that when this all-new hot hatch will have its official launch however, it is anticipated to be sometime later this year. As for the pricing it is also believed that the company could launch it with an ex-showroom price of Rs 9-2lakh. Currently its direct competitor the Hyundai i20 N-line is available in a price range of Rs 9.99 – 12.10 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)

In other Tata Motors news recently the company also released the official TVC of its forthcoming all-electric SUV Sierra.EV as well. The Sierra.EV will be launched in 2024 and its concept was shown at the Tata booth at the Auto Expo 2023 as well. It was recently also revealed by the Tata Motors Head of Global Design, Martin M. Uhlarik that the design of the conceptualized Tata Sierra.EV shown at the show has been finalized to enter production in 2025.

The company will reportedly also introduce an internal combustion engine version of this venerable SUV. Most likely it will employ the newly introduced 1.5-liter four-cylinder T-GDi engine which according to the company generates a maximum power of 170 PS and peak torque of 280 Nm.
