Jawa Yezdi motorcycles have launched a special edition motorcycle based on their Jawa 42 motorcycle. The new edition is called Jawa 42 Tawang edition and as the name suggests, this is an exclusive motorcycle available only for customers from Arunachal Pradesh. The special edition motorcycle is limited to 100 units and it was unveiled at the Torgya Festival in Tawang by Mr Tsering Tashi, MLA Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, Mr Sonam Chombay, Commissioner to CM and Mr Oken Tayeng, Chairman – Adventure Tour Operator Association of India, NE Chapter. The officials also handed over special edition motorcycles to select customers. The Tawang Edition of the motorcycle costs Rs 20,000 more than the regular Jawa 42 model.

For the extra money that the customers are paying, Jawa is offering a bronze medallion, a customised helmet and a riding jacket. Jawa is also offering accessories like headlight grille, bar-end mirrors, rear grab rail and crash guard with the motorcycle. The motorcycle is based on Jawa 42 Sports Stripe Allstar Black. The Tawang Edition takes inspiration from Lungta, the mythical wind horse, which is part of legends from this region and symbolizes prosperity and good fortune. The motorcycle features Lungta motif on the fuel tank and front fender along with inscriptions inspired by the region across body panels all around. Every motorcycle also gets a unique numbered bronze medallion to mark the special edition units.
When it comes to the engine, Jawa retains the same 293cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that delivers 27.33 PS of power and 26.84 Nm of torque, featuring cross port technology for class-leading performance. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. As mentioned above, the motorcycles were unveiled at the Torgya Festival in Tawang. This festival is celebrated in Tawang by the Monpa community of Arunachal Pradesh to welcome a healthy and prosperous new year. The locals celebrate this festival to ward off external energy from the earth that can cause harm and natural calamities otherwise. The festival features traditional acts of dance and worship by the locals, making for a colourful spectacle spread over two days in the beautiful Tawang region of Arunachal Pradesh.
Jawa motorcycles were relaunched in the market back in 2018. Jawa currently has Jawa Jawa or Jawa Classic, Jawa 42, Jawa Perak in its line-up. They also launched a Jawa 42 Bobber motorcycle in the market recently. All these motorcycles follow a retro design while offering moderns day features like electric start, ABS, disc brakes and so on. Jawa is currently the only two-wheeler manufacturer in the country that offers an affordable bobber motorcycle from the factory.
