Riding India’s only scooter with a roof in India [Video]

India is one of the largest markets for two-wheelers in the world. We have many two-wheeler manufacturers in the country including Hero which is the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer. Even today, buying a car is still quite expensive for many in India and that is one of the reasons why many people are still preferring a two-wheeler. One of the disadvantages of owning a two-wheeler is that the rider and the pillion are prone to the environment. So, they have to face the heat and rain. Here we have a video of a scooter that comes with a roof to protect the rider and pillion from sun and rain.

The video has been uploaded by BikeWithGirl on their YouTube channel. The bike or scooter seen here in the video is AD 200 and it is made by Adiva Advanced Vehicles. It looks like a maxi scooter with a roof on top. The scooter uses a 171 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is taken from a Peugeot. This engine generates a maximum of 15.8 Ps and 15.3 Nm of peak torque. It is definitely a very unique-looking scooter and that is the reason why we see a lot of people coming near and checking out the scooter. The main attraction of this scooter is its roof. It is a foldable roof that sits neatly inside the storage box at the back of the scooter.

Even after keeping the roof inside, the box still has a lot of storage space left in it. The box can actually hold two full-size helmets and more items if the rider is using the roof. There is a large windscreen in front of the vehicle. The roof is actually clipped onto this scooter so that it does not fly away while riding the bike. The windscreen has a wiper and washer in it. With the roof up, the rider is easily protected from direct sunlight and rain. The scooter comes with a twin-pod analog instrument cluster. One of them shows the speedometer and the other one has fuel and temperature gauge. A MID is also present between the gauges.

The video does show a storage compartment in the front below the instrument cluster. The AD200 even comes with two air vents to blow air on the rider. This is just an air vent and not an Air conditioning unit. The vlogger even shows how the rear seat of this scooter looks and feels to sit on. It offers utmost comfort to the pillion as it comes with a proper backrest, armrest, and headrest. The scooter offers features like hazard lamps, speakers, cigarette lighter, and a lot of storage space. The scooter comes with a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres and as this is a heavy scooter removing the center stand and taking U-turns can be a task for many people.

The scooter seen here was manufactured in 2011 and the speedometer on this is currently not functioning. The vlogger can be seen enjoying the ride as the windshield and roof on the scooter protects the rider from dirt, heat and rain which other motorcycle riders face on a daily basis.
