Maruti Suzuki Fronx receives 5,500 bookings

The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited went out of its way to create and unveil the all-new crossover Fronx at the Auto Expo 2023. The model based on the Baleno has been quite well received by buyers in the country and recently the company has announced that it has crossed the 5,500 bookings mark. The all-new crossover Fronx will be available for sale via the Nexa range of dealerships and will most likely be launched in the April of this year. Currently, interested customers can reserve one for a booking amount of Rs 11,000.

The all-new crossover Fronx is the brand’s take on the not-so-popular hatchback and SUV cross segment. This is the first time, the Indo-Japanese automaker has produced a crossover SUV. The Fronx was unveiled during Auto Expo 2023 alongside the coveted SUV Jimny five-door.  In the Maruti Suzuki lineup, this crossover SUV sits below the top-of-the-line sub-compact SUV Grand Vitara and above the hatchback Baleno and compact SUV Brezza.

The all-new Fronx is heavily inspired by its elder sibling, the Grand Vitara, and seems to be a baby version of it. It has a grille similar to the Grand Vitara, although it is not encircled by chrome garnishes. Instead, it has a single broad chrome strip in the center that also holds the Suzuki symbol. Additionally, because of the squared-off wheel arches, the Fronx seems significantly more powerful and muscular than its hatchback sibling. The Fronx has significantly more ground clearance than the Baleno and it is bigger in overall dimensions as well.

On the inside, the Fronx’s interior looks identical to the Maruti Suzuki’s outgoing premium hatchback Baleno. The Fronx on the interior gets a dual-tone theme and a 9.0-inch free-floating SmartPlay infotainment system that also has connectivity options including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, it also gets faux leather and a wireless vehicle charger, head-up display, 360 degree rear view camera, automatic air conditioner, reverse parking camera and a ton of other creature comforts.

In terms of safety features, Maruti Suzuki is offering the Fronx with a ton safety features including ISOFIX mounts for child seats, front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, and pedestrian protection compliance. The 2023 Maruti Suzuki Fronx will also have premium safety features such as hill hold assistance, and an electronic stability program.  The Maruti Suzuki Fronx’s three-point ELR seat belts, auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, and Suzuki Connect telematics system all add to the vehicle’s safety and security.

Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha are the five different configurations that the new crossover SUV will be offered in. Both the 1.2-liter, four-cylinder, normally aspirated petrol engine and the new, three-cylinder, 1.0-liter turbo-petrol Boosterjet engine, both equipped with Maruti’s mild-hybrid technology, will be offered as powertrain options for the Fronx. The former generates 100 horsepower and 147.6 Nm, but the latter still generates 90 horsepower and 113 Nm. While the NA petrol engine comes with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission, the turbo-petrol engine can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
