What is PDI?

The full form of PDI is Pre-delivery inspection. It is the final check before the dealer registers the car in your name. Just to simplify, PDI is a thorough examination that includes scrutiny of the exterior and interior of the car.

Why PDI is important

PDI is conducted to see if there are any minor or major problems with the car. Some problems may be hard to find, but at least you can filter out some problems. If you do find problems you can get them fixed by the dealership before the car is registered in your name. In terms of major problems, you can reject the car as a whole.

Car PDI – What all to check?

Firstly check the exterior of the car thoroughly. You can start by parking the car in an open area with an adequate amount of sunlight. See if there are only scratches or colour changes. Ensure all doors open and close without any noise or squeaks. Check the underneath of the car if there are any leaks or scraps. Also, check the tyre threads and tyre age.
