Owner explains why he bought Maruti Grand Vitara instead of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos [Video]

Maruti Suzuki launched its top-of-the-line SUV Grand Vitara back in September of 2022. Ever since then the car has gained an immense amount of popularity in the country and has managed to attract a ton of buyers. The mid-size goes up against the segment champions such as Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos and has managed to give them a stiff competition. Recently an owner of the Grand Vitara also shared his thoughts on why instead of going with the South Korean sister brands SUVs he went for the Indo-Japanese carmaker’s SUV.

The video of the owner explaining his choice of mid-size SUV was uploaded by Girish Khanna on their YouTube channel. The video starts with the cameraman first showing the white Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and then introducing the owner of the vehicle. He then asks the owner to tell him the date of purchase and the name of the variant of the SUV. To this, the owner replies that he bought the car a week ago and the variant is Zeta mild hybrid model. Following this, he then tells that the model set him back Rs 15.5 lakh on-road.

After the introduction and basic information, the cameraman then asks the owner the main question that when there were so many compact SUVs in the segment why did he choose to go with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. To this the owner replied, that his first choice was the Hyundai Creta as his business partner owns one and he himself drives his partners car weekly for about 1000 kms. He added that he was looking for the diesel variant as mileage was a huge concern for him. He added that he also considered the Kia Seltos as well and both the Creta and Seltos were his main contenders.

Although he then revealed that the reasons that he did not go with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos were that they both are about to receive new facelifts and this will hurt the value of the old gen car. He then added that he also wanted the diesel variants of those SUVs but they had long waiting periods. Additionally he told that the he looked at many other vehicles such as the Scorpio-N, XUV700, XL6, Harrier, Nexon and Astor but none of them fitted his requirements. The cameraman then asked that why did he not go for the Skoda Kushaq or the Volkswagen Taigun to which he replied that the Taigun was little more expensive but the Kushaq was being offered for a good deal. However his main reason to reject those was the rear legroom and space for three passengers.

The owner told that he thoroughly compared a ton of vehicles but nobody matched his requirements perfectly. He stated that even the Grand Vitara also has a drawback that it does not come with six gears instead it only gets five. But he stated that he had to compromise on this part as the overall car is good. He was also asked why did he not go for the strong hybrid model if mileage was his concern to this the owner stated he uses the car in long distance road trips and mostly on highways the rear boot space was an issue in the strong hybrid model. He also added the strong hybrid would have been better option he had to travel in city traffic but he said that as he uses the car on highways more often it did not make much sense. The owner further gave a few more reasons as to why he chose the Grand Vitara over others.
