MG already has an EV in the Indian market with the ZS EV, but the ZS EV is a bit on the expensive side. So MG is looking to bring an affordable EV in the form of an Air EV. The Air EV will be a unique product with its compact dimensions. Essentially it will be smaller than the Alto. Even with the compact dimensions, MG wants to provide a premium experience. In terms of pricing, the Air EV is expected to start from Rs 12lakh to Rs 13 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Maruti Jimny

The Jimny is finally here in its 5-door avatar. Maruti Suzuki finally took off the wraps on the Jimny at the Auto Expo. The 5-door Jimny gets the same overall design and the 1.5-litre K15B engine. Other than that, it comes with a 9.0-inch infotainment, ARKAMYs sound system, Suzuki connect, 6-airbags etc. Maruti is expected to launch the Jimny before the start of the festive season.

Another SUV that Maruti unveiled at the Auto Expo was the FronX. The FronX is a beefed-up version of the Baleno hatchback. It gets a Grand Vitara-inspired design, higher ground clearance and a tapering roofline. Another big highlight of the FronX is the return of the 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine. Like the Jimny, Maruti has only opened bookings of the Fronx. The launch of the Fronx is expected by April 2023.

Hyundai Verna

One of the most popular sedans in the country will be getting a major update. Hyundai has already started the teaser campaign of the new Verna. The new Verna is going to be bigger and more premium than the outgoing model. It is expected to get features like ADAS, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and much more. Hyundai is going to launch the new Verna on the 21st of March 2023.

Tata Harrier/Safari facelift

Tata recently gave the Harrier/Safari duo much-needed features like ADAS, a digital instrument cluster and a bigger infotainment system. But the duo still needs a design update. Recently, the Safari facelift was spotted testing with a Harrier EV-inspired front fascia. We expect similar upgrades on the Harrier facelift. The Harrier/Safari facelift is expected by the end of 2023.

Honda SUV

Honda is finally working on an SUV for the Indian market. It is working on an SUV to take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos etc. In January, Honda released the first teaser of the car, and recently the car was spotted testing. Overall the car looks quite butch and surely packs a punch to take on the competition. Specification-wise, it could come with a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre strong hybrid petrol engine. Honda will have to load the SUV with features to take on the established players. Honda is expected to launch the SUV by mid-2023.

The Thar 5-door is expected to be launched by the end of 2023 or early 2024.

Hyundai Ai3

For starters, it is an SUV specially designed for the Indian market and not the Casper sold in South Korea. It will be based on the Grand i10 Nios and share its underpinnings with the same. According to reports, Ai3 could be launched before the festive season.

Tata is on a roll in the EV space and is in no mood of stopping that momentum. Late last year, Tata confirmed that it will be launching the Punch EV by the end of 2023. What about the specifications? The Punch EV could share its specifications with the Nexon EV Prime. So it could come with a 30.2kWh battery pack and a 127bhp motor. Pricing-wise, we expect it to be around the Rs 13 lakh to Rs 14 lakh mark (on-road, Mumbai).

Citroen continues to slowly and steadily establish itself in the Indian market. It has unveiled the eC3, and its next launch is going to be a 7-seater MPV. From the spy shots, the MPV seems to be based on the C3 hatchback but with a bigger overhang and more butch looks. This MPV should get better interiors and features than the C3 hatchback. Citroen is expected to launch this MPV by the end of 2023 or early 2024.
