Honda’s plan
Honda has announced its EV plan for India. Honda has revealed that it plans to launch two EVs in FY24. These new EVs will be based on ground-up new products and based on a dedicated platform called ‘E’. This will be a modular platform with a scope for different battery architectures and installation.
Activa electric
This first electric scooter will be locally developed by Honda. According to rumors, it could be called the Activa EV. Overall it will have a fixed battery pack, but its spec will be not groundbreaking. After the Activa EV, Honda also plans to launch a more powerful EV scooter to take on the Ola and Ather. This scooter will come with swappable batteries.
Activa electric 2023
Honda is focusing on manufacturing electric motors in-house in India to cut costs. So we can expect Honda to price the Activa electric aggressively. Honda is looking to set up 6000+ touchpoints across the country for swappable battery infrastructure. Also, the brand is planning a separate workshop for its EVs. Honda has also plans to set up a new factory ‘E’ to manufacture its EVs.
