Ever since launch Seltos has been a favourite buy to most of the SUV buyers. It is styled well with premium looking interiors. What excites the most is the huge feature list the SUV has to offer, especially in the latest facelift. However, Kia is now fighting with supply constraints but has got a plan to overcome. What’s that? Let’s understand in detail.
Kia Seltos 2023 Supply Chain Constraints
Seltos has managed to gain bookings of more than 50,000 mark. Also, with such a high demand the waiting period surely took a hit. Currently the waiting period of the Seltos is for four months. But that’s not only due to high demand. It is said that the waiting period has been affected due to supply constraints.
Features like 360-degree camera and Bose sound system are offered in the higher trims of the Seltos. But the brand is facing constant supply chain constraints of these components.
The Solution – Kia Seltos GTX+ (S) and Kia Seltos X-Line (S)
To fight back, Kia has launched two new variants- Seltos GTX+ (S) and the Seltos X-Line (S). These two variants are positioned below the top-spec GTX+ and X-Line variants. What makes them different is that the new variants do not come equipped with features like Bose sound system and 360-degree camera. Instead they are equipped with 6 speakers and a regular reverse camera.
According to Kia, these two variants will help them to overcome the waiting period issue. The waiting period of these two variants will be around 2 months.
Rest everything remains the same and these two variants would be equally feature loaded. They will have some exclusive features like 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, electronic parking brake, dual infotainment screens, and ADAS.
Engine Specifications
Both these variants will come with both petrol and diesel options. The engines remain unchanged. Which means they will be powered with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that churns out 158bhp and 253Nm of torque. The other option would be the 1.5-litre diesel engine which puts out 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. The petrol engine will come mated to a 7-speed DCT and the diesel engine will come mated to a 6-speed torque converter.
Kia Seltos GTX+ (S) and Kia Seltos X-Line (S) – Price
The Seltos GTX+ (S) petrol variant is launched at Rs 22.96 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) while the diesel variant is launched at Rs 23.36 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The Seltos X-Line (S), on the other hand is launched at Rs 23.20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for petrol variant and for the diesel variant it has been priced at Rs 23.60 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
