Renault Jogger coming? Perfect Ertiga & Carens rival

The affordable 7-seater category enjoys a good amount of popularity in the country. In this segment, the Ertiga rules the roost with the Kia Carens coming in a distinct second. Still, comparatively, this segment doesn’t have many options. Hyundai is expected to bring the Stargazer, but for today we are going to talk about the Renault Jogger. Let’s discuss about the Jogger, if it will come to India and what to expect?

Renault sells the Jogger through its Dacia subsidiary in Europe. in 2022, the Jogger received a minor refresh giving it a new look. With this refresh, the Dacia brand employed its new logo. Dacia has done a good job of giving the Jogger a neat and modern look. From the sides, the Jogger looks quite rugged with big wheel arches, usable roof rails and blacked-out alloys. At the rear, we have Volvo-esque vertical tail lamps completing the look.

The Jogger shares its interior with the 2nd-gen Duster, which was not launched in India. In the interior, we have a familiar sight with the floating infotainment system. We have circular AC dials and touch-based HVAC controls. The Jogger comes with 6-seater and 7-seater options. In terms of features, we have six airbags, cruise control, and charging in all ports. It also comes with active safety features like emergency braking assist, blind-spot warning & park assist. 

Renault Jogger – Specifications

In the update, Dacia added a new 1.6-litre petrol mild hybrid powertrain on the Jogger. This engine comes with a unique setup of the 4-speed automatic gearbox. In this, two gears are attached to the engine and two are attached to the electric gearbox. Talking about its power figures, it produces 104bhp of power. The second engine option on offer is a 1.0-litre turbo petrol that also comes with an LPG option. If at all, the Jogger comes to India, it will come with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol option used on the Kiger.

Renault has been tightlipped about the launch of the Jogger. Recently, it stated that it plans to launch as many as 6 all-new products in the Indian market. This includes a 7-seater SUV based on the upcoming Duster platform. So the Jogger looks like a likely option, but probably Renault could develop a new 7-seater for the Indian market. If launched, the Jogger could start from Rs 12 to Rs 14 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
