Car fires are not a new occurrence, but they have become quite common nowadays. A Mahindra XUV300 caught fire while being driven on the road, and fortunately, the occupants escaped the incident without any injuries. Nevertheless, it appears quite frightening.
The incident, which took place in Jammu and Kashmir, shows smoke billowing out from the front of the Mahindra XUV300. Then, we can see flames coming out of the bonnet. Within a few minutes, the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames.
While there are no reports of injuries, in such cases, passengers can easily get trapped inside the vehicle due to electrical shorts. There is no further information about the vehicle. Such incidents are mostly triggered by aftermarket accessories. Still, there is no information about whether this car had any such accessories. This is the W6 variant, which is not the top-end version, and most owners install aftermarket accessories in such vehicles.

The only information available regarding this incident is that the vehicle was serviced a couple of days ago. It is highly likely that some wires got tangled or something similar happened during the service, which caused the fire. Since Mahindra or the service center is yet to investigate the fire and provide details, we cannot speculate on the exact reason.
One should refrain from installing aftermarket accessories in their vehicles, especially from third-party garages, to avoid such incidents.
Mahindra XUV700 Caught Fire
On May 21 earlier this year, Kuldeep Singh, the owner of the XUV700, posted on Twitter that he was driving with his family on the Jaipur National Highway when the incident occurred. Kuldeep said that the car caught fire without any warning of overheating. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, and all the passengers managed to exit the vehicle before the fire spread and engulfed it.
The fire was concentrated in the engine bay area of the car. After many Twitter users questioned Singh if he had made modifications, the reply was negative. Kuldeep said that he did not make modifications, and the car was in stock condition. He also mentioned that the vehicle is relatively new.
A day after the fire, Mahindra Automotive released a statement saying they found out that the wiring harness was tampered with to add aftermarket accessories. This could have led to the fire incident. However, Mahindra did not clarify the exact accessory that caused the fire.
