Tata Safari facelift spotted testing again – Weird test mule

Tata continues to keep us busy even after the launch of the Nexon facelift. Now the focus has shifted to the Harrier and Safari facelift. Earlier today, we covered the launch details of the Harrier and Safari facelift, you can check it out here. Now new spy shots of the Safari facelift have cropped up. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Tata Safari facelift.

New spy shots

The spy shots were sent to us by Shubham Medankar. The car was spotted in Thermax Chowk, Chinchwad – Pune. In this set of spy shots, we can see the front and rear design of the Safari facelift. At the front, we can see the new design with eyebrow DRLs and an upright grille. The headlamps of this test mule are completely covered and that is why we have temporary headlamps. The side profile is not very different barring the new alloy wheel design. The rear is a bit of an anomaly as the design looks identical to the current model. We have already seen the new tail lamps with the connected design. This could be an earlier test mule and Tata could be using it still for some component testing.

Tata Safari facelift – Other expected changes

The Safari facelift is expected to get some major changes in the interior. We could see a new floating infotainment system and some major changes to the dashboard layout. Other changes could include a new 4-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo and touch-sensitive HVAC controls. In terms of new features, we could see an updated instrument cluster, a new rotary-styled drive mode selector and more connected car features.

Specifications

The Safari facelift will continue with the 2.0-litre diesel engine capable of producing 167bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options will also continue to be manual and automatic gearboxes. What about the petrol option? The Safari facelift will miss out on the petrol engine option at launch. As Tata wants to debut the 1.5-litre turbo petrol on the Curvv. We could see this engine on the Harrier and Safari later on in their life cycles.

Tata Safari facelift – Launch

Currently, the Safari starts from Rs 19.34 lakh and goes to Rs 30.75 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
