Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV’s interiors to be revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show

Maruti Suzuki’s foray into the electric vehicle (EV) segment has been making headlines, especially with the unveiling of the eVX concept earlier this year in India. While we got a glimpse of its striking exterior, the anticipation surrounding its interior has been palpable. The good news is that the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show 2023 is set to quench our curiosity by revealing the eVX’s interior for the very first time.

Maruti’s eVX is a significant milestone as it marks the brand’s maiden venture into the world of electric SUVs, a project developed in collaboration with Toyota, which is working on its own eVX counterpart. The vehicle is based on the cutting-edge 40PL Skateboard architecture. In addition to the eVX, Maruti Suzuki has plans to showcase the new Swift and the domestically produced WagonR CNG.

One of the key aspects of the eVX that has garnered much attention is its “Made-in-India” tag, signaling Maruti’s intent to manufacture this EV in India for both domestic and international markets. The eVX boasts a substantial 60kWh battery that promises an impressive driving range of 500 kilometers, making it a formidable contender in the EV market. As we eagerly await the official unveiling of the eVX’s interior at the Tokyo Motor Show, a few intriguing details have already surfaced.

Spy shots of the eVX’s test mule captured during trials revealed a sleek twin-screen setup, accompanied by vertical AC vents, and a refreshed flat-bottom steering wheel design. The interior also featured a modern floating center console design housing a rotary dial. However, further specifics about the interior are yet to be disclosed. Enthusiasts and potential buyers will finally get a comprehensive look at the cabin when the brand showcases it later this month.

In terms of dimensions, the Maruti Suzuki eVX measures 4,300mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,600mm in height. Its 2,700mm long wheelbase provides ample space and stability, positioning it to rival the Hyundai Creta EV, scheduled for an early 2025 release. While the eVX’s exterior design has been kept under wraps with heavy camouflage, Suzuki has assured that it has evolved considerably since its initial concept presentation at Auto Expo 2023.

Under the hood, the eVX boasts an electric powertrain that delivers an impressive 500 kilometers of range. Interestingly, the concept version featured a 60kWh battery with a range of 550 kilometers. Maruti Suzuki is also expected to introduce an entry-level variant with a slightly smaller 48kWh battery, still offering a commendable 400 kilometers of range.
Excitingly, the global launch of the eVX is scheduled for October 2024. This launch carries immense significance as it marks Maruti Suzuki’s debut in the EV sector. With its “Made-in-India” pedigree, impressive range, and stylish design, the eVX is poised to make a memorable entrance into the world of electric vehicles.
