The pickup segment has never lived up to its potential in the Indian market. Most of the manufacturers have steered clear, but some like Toyota & Isuzu have tried with limited success. Last year, Toyota launched the Hilux. It hasn’t found the success Toyota had hoped for. Even the Isuzu is struggling for sales. Now, there could be a ray of new hope with the 2024 Isuzu D-Max unveiled in Thailand. In today’s article, let’s talk about the 2024 Isuzu D-Max.
ADAS and more
Let’s first talk about the interiors, as this is where the D-Max lacks a lot. In the 2024 model, Isuzu has added new features like a 7-inch MID, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, ventilated seats, 8-way power-adjustable seats, USB C front & rear, and Air purifier.
However, the biggest change is the addition of ADAS to the 2024 model. It is a camera-based system and not a radar one. ADAS features include blind sport monitoring, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, turn assist with AEB, multi-collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic high beam and rear cross-traffic alert & traffic brake.
Other changes
The front facia of the D-Max has undergone a major refresh. Isuzu has tried to achieve a rugged look with the new imposing grille. The brand has also tweaked the headlamps and DRL design. The front air dam also gets a new look that the brand says helps in aerodynamics. The side profile doesn’t get any changes, barring the new 18-inch alloy wheels. Coming to the rear, we have vertically stacked LED tail lights. In Thailand, the Isuzu comes with 1.9-litre and 3.0-litre diesel engines. If it comes to India, then we can expect it to come with 1.9-litre and 2.5-litre diesel engines.
2024 Isuzu D-Max – India launch
As mentioned above, the Pickup segment continues to be quite a niche segment in the country. So, it seems unlikely that Isuzu will bring the new D-Max to India. However, if it does bring it can give good competition to the Toyota Hilux with its new design & features. Pricing-wise, we can expect the new D-Max to start from Rs 25 lakh and go to Rs 35 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
