Tata had a blockbuster Auto Expo 2023 with several new concepts unveiled. One such concept was the Altroz Racer and it was expected to be launched soon. But now 10 months on, Tata has been quite tightlipped about it. It was thought that Tata had scrapped this project, but now there is a new ray of hope. A test mule of the Altroz has been spotted, which could be of the Racer edition. In today’s article, let’s talk about the 2024 Tata Altroz Racer edition.
New details
A test mule of the Altroz was spotted in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. For some reason, the bonnet of the car was open. Under the hood, it had an engine block similar to the Altroz i-turbo. So, can we assume this is the Racer edition? It had Racer manually written on its engine cover. Though it is not a sure-shot thing that this is the Altroz Racer edition, it doesn’t hint at the possibility. In the interiors, the car had a 6-speed gearbox and not the 5-speed available on the normal Altroz i-turbo. These are enough hints to suggest that this could be the Altroz Racer edition.
What else to know?
To refresh your memory, the Altroz Racer comes with some noticeable changes in the exterior. It comes with a stylish black bonnet and white strips that extend up to the roof. We also have blacked-out alloy wheels and an extended spoiler. Under the hood, The Racer edition comes with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine capable of producing 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. This same engine powers the new Nexon. Transmission-wise, the Altroz Racer only comes with a manual gearbox. The interior of the Altroz Racer edition comes with red highlights on the dashboard and centre console. Feature-wise, it had ventilated seats, 6 airbags, reverse parking sensors and a 10-inch infotainment system.

As stated above, Tata has been quite tightlipped about the launch of the Altroz Racer edition. Most of us thought that the Altroz Racer would be a concept-only model. However, these new spy shots have reignited the hopes of the launch of the Altroz Racer edition. Probably, we could see Tata launch the Altroz Racer edition in the first half of 2024.
