EVs are quickly grabbing market share all around the world. But even though people are warming up to the ideas of EVs, range anxiety remains a cause of concern for most people. Toyota unveiled the Lexus LF-ZC concept car at the Tokyo Mobility Show. This concept car uses “Prismatic, High-performance” batteries that achieve twice the range compared to conventional EVs. So how much extra range are we talking about? Toyota is claiming a range of around 620 miles (1000 km). Currently, the highest claimed range is 830km of the Lucid Air. So Toyota is looking to break this record with the LF-ZC concept. Talking about the LF-ZC, it comes with an expansive cockpit and uses advanced AI to identify the preferences of drivers that even they may not be aware of. Toyota has dubbed this technology “Butler”.

How is a Toyota EV going to achieve it?

Toyota is claiming that this is achievable with minimisation and reduction across the board, including smaller and more efficient batteries with more power and range. The Japanese brand is also working on next-generation lithium-ion batteries that offer longer ranges and quicker charging. Another thing Toyota is doing is to overcome the durability issues in solid-state batteries. It aims to sell vehicles with solid-state batteries, which could be a game changer for the EV industry.
