Mahindra Thar 5-door close-up spy shots out! New design

The Thar 5-door is going to be the next blockbuster launch for the Mahindra. Considering the popularity of the normal Thar, the brand has high hopes for the 5-door model. Currently, Mahindra is rigorously testing the SUV in various parts of the country. This testing has led to various spy shots of the SUV. Now in a new set of spy shots, we get a close-up look at the design of the Thar 5-door. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Mahindra Thar 5-door.

New spy shots

Though the car is heavily covered in camouflage, we can see some prominent changes. This test mule sports a different grille with a unique slat design and horizontal separator in the lower half. Mahindra hasn’t used such type of grille on any of its cars. Other spotted things include new LED headlamps, circular DRLs and LED fog lamps. The alloy wheel design is similar to the 3-door Thar. At the rear, we have the same tail lamp design, but with different graphics.

Other expectations

The Thar 5-door is going to get interiors and more creature comforts. For starters, it is expected to come with a new 10-inch floating infotainment system. With the new infotainment, we can also expect new upholstery and HVAC controls. Earlier spy shots have also confirmed the presence of a sunroof, centre armrest etc. What about the specifications? We could see the 2.0-litre petrol (200bhp/370Nm) and 2.2-litre diesel engine (172bhp/370Nm). The transmission option should include a manual and an automatic option on both these engines.

Launch

The Thar 5-door is coming sometime next year. Considering the frequency of spy shots, Mahindra could launch the Thar 5-door in the first half of 2024. Along with the Thar 5-door, Mahindra also has plans to launch the XUV300 facelift and XUV.e8 next year. Talking about the price of the Thar 5-door, we expect it to start from Rs 19 lakh and go to Rs 24 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
