The Seltos has been a remarkable product for the South Korean brand in India. It helped establish the brand and made Kia a household brand in the country. What do we know so far?
Kia is yet to state anything about the Seltos EV, but as we all know, Hyundai is working on the Creta EV. The Creta EV has already been spotted in testing a few times. Creta and Seltos are sister cars with identical underpinnings. So, if a Creta EV is happening, there is a high chance that we could also see a Seltos EV. Both the cars could share their specifications but have different designs like they do in their ICE versions.
Could it be the EV3?
There is another possibility that the recently unveiled EV3 could be the Seltos EV. At its Kia EV Day event, Kia unveiled the EV3 concept. The EV3 is similar in dimensions to the Seltos. The overall side profile of the EV3 also resembled a lot to the Seltos. Talking about the EV3, it is going to be the entry-level EV SUV for Kia at least for now. It has a boxy design similar to the EV5 and EV9. The boxy design has a lot of cuts and creases, adding more dimensions to the design. In the interior, we have a minimalistic design with Kia using a lot of sustainable materials. The EV3 seems like an exciting proposition but could be expensive due to its skateboard platform and specifications.
Kia Seltos EV – Kia’s plan
Though Kia is yet to reveal its plans on the topic of Seltos EV, it has showcased its EV roadmap in the country. It is going to take a top-down approach with launches like the EV6 and the upcoming EV9. The brand’s first mass-market is expected to be launched in 2025, which could be an electric 7-seater. Kia has also trademarked EV1 to EV9 nomenclature in India, hinting that all its EVs could come to India in the future.
