All new Renault Duster India-bound: Just 1 month to go for the official reveal

The Renault Duster has enjoyed immense success in India, but the brand has never introduced an updated version of this mid-size SUV to the Indian market. However, after a long absence from Indian market, Renault is set to globally showcase the third-generation of the new Duster on 29th November, less than a month from now.

The new Duster is expected to arrive in India by 2025 and will be based on a new platform. It will spearhead Renault India’s plans for D-SUVs in the Indian market.

Spy images of the new Duster, captured by CarWale, reveal the evolution of its design. The next-generation Duster is confirmed to be based on the Bigster concept, boasting a muscular appearance from the front, sides, and rear, with the proportions of a perfect SUV. At the front, it will feature the Bigster’s distinctive styling, including the Renault logo instead of the Dacia moniker when launched in India. The spy shots also reveal air intakes on each side of the front bumper and narrow LED daytime running lights. Notably, the new Duster will be built on Renault-Nissan’s new CMF-B platform.

Renault currently offers entry-level cars in the Indian market, such as the Kwid, Triber, and Kiger. Although the Duster was discontinued in 2021, it remained in its first generation in India. Renault did not bring the second-generation Duster to Indian shores nor update the vehicle to compete with its rivals.

However, the French manufacturer recently announced plans to produce new D-Segment SUVs in the Indian market, as well as a budget electric car. This suggests that Renault may bring both 5-seater and 7-seater variants of the Duster to India.

Six new SUVs coming soon

In a significant development, the Renault-Nissan alliance announced the debut of six new models for India. These models include four C-segment SUVs and two A-segment electric vehicles. They will be the first set of EVs to be rolled out by both manufacturers. All six models will be underpinned by the global Common Module Family (CMF) platform, ensuring high localization. Production will take place at the alliance’s plant in Chennai, creating employment opportunities for 2,000 people at the Renault Nissan technology and business center. Additionally, the Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Limited plant will transition into a carbon-neutral facility, with a significant increase in renewable energy generation, showcasing the alliance’s commitment to sustainability.
