Tata Motors has upped the ante in the last few years. From being a fringe player, it has propelled itself into the top manufacturers in the country. The brand has not shied away from trying different things like converting ICE cars into EVs and bringing coupe SUVs. However, Tata’s most ground-breaking EV is going to be the Avinya. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Tata Avinya EV.
Design
The Avinya is still a concept car, and Tata has taken full creative liberties with its design. According to Tata, the Avinya showcases the brand’s new Pure EV design. If we talk about the specific details, we have a massive grille at the front which comes with tiny bulbs in it. Tata has also gone to great lengths to provide good aerodynamics on the Avinya. Above the grille, we have a DRL design forming a ‘T’ in the centre. The side profile consists of some sharp cuts and creases. The Avinya doesn’t come with traditional ORVMs, rather it comes with a camera that transmits into the car. At the rear, we have connected tail lamps again, forming the ‘T’ design like the front.
Tata Avinya EV – Specifications
The Avinya will be Tata’s 3rd generation EV based on a skateboard platform. This will give the brand complete liberties to fix the battery pack. Recently, Tata stated that all its 2nd generation EVs will have 500+km of range. Considering this, we can expect the Avinya to have more than 500km of range, probably in the range of 700km. It’s too early to speculate on the power figures, but being the brand’s flagship SUV we can expect class-leading figures.
Interior
If you thought the exterior of Avinya was too futuristic, wait till you see the interiors. In the interiors, Tata has done something quite different to the current trend. When most manufacturers are increasing the size of infotainment, Tata has removed it from the Avinya concept. The Avinya doesn’t even come with a proper dashboard. Tata has stated that everything in the car will be voice-controlled. It remains to be seen if the production version will have this or if Tata will have a change of mind.
Tata Avinya EV – Launch timeline
Avinya is Tata’s most ambitious product, and the brand will be looking to bring a polished product to the market. Currently, Tata is working on a sleeve of EVs like Harrier, Curvv & Sierra. The Avinya seems to be last in this pecking order and could be launched only after 2025 at max. Nevertheless, we hope Avinya lives up to the hype it has created. What about pricing? It is too early to speculate about its pricing, we can get more clarity on this aspect after the launch of Curvv, Sierra, etc.
