Skoda has finally unveiled the 2024 Superb globally. For the last few months, it had revealed some information giving us hints. Now, finally, we get to see the new Superb in the flesh. So is the new Superb really “SUPERB”? Let’s find out.
Exterior design
Skoda is employing the philosophy of “if it’s not broken, don’t change it” with the new Superb. At first, you will not see major changes in the exterior. On closer inspection, we can see Skoda has made the headlamps sharper with a slightly tweaked grille. The air dam also gets a new look. Also, the Superb has grown in size by 43mm over the outgoing model. The side profile doesn’t have many changes barring the new alloy wheels. At the rear, the wraparound tail lamps have grown in size.
2024 Skoda Superb – Interiors & features
The interiors of the new-gen Superb are very similar to the New-gen Kodiaq. In the Superb, we have a vertical slate design pattern with AC vents nicely integrated into them at the corners. Skoda has used a lot of soft-touch material in the dashboard and major touch points. The centre console gets a clean look with the gear lever shifted behind the steering column.
Feature-wise, the new Superb comes with a 13-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, wireless charging, level-2 ADAS, park assist, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX, USB-C charging, touch-sensitive dials, electronic parking brake etc. The Superb also comes with its ‘Simply Clever’ features like an umbrella in the front door pocket, an ice scraper etc.
Specifications
The new Superb comes with a new plug-in hybrid powertrain and offers an electric-only range of 100km. In addition, the new Superb also comes with a 1.5-litre mild hybrid engine and 2.0-litre pure petrol. Globally, the Superb also comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine in two state of tunes – 148bhp and 190bhp. The higher tune comes with a 4×4 setup. What can we expect in India? If the Superb comes to India, it will continue with the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine capable of producing 188bhp and 320Nm of torque. Transmission options should include only a DSG gearbox.
2024 Skoda Superb – Coming to India?
Skoda is yet to state anything about the new Superb coming to India. Instead, Skoda is gearing up to relaunch the outgoing generation of Superb in the country. This time, the Superb will be coming as CBU imports in limited numbers. Skoda had to discontinue the current-gen Superb due to the implementation of BS6 Stage 2 norms. What about the new Superb? We think eventually Skoda will bring it to India, but when that will happen is anybody’s guess.
