The video of the rear-end crash consequence between the Tata Harrier and Toyota Fortuner has been shared on YouTube by Indian Automobile 786 on their channel. In the short YouTube video, a white-colored Toyota Fortuner can be seen parked in the middle of a wet road with its hazard lights on. The video then shows the front end of the Fortuner which looks somewhat damaged.
In the same video clip, a Tata Harrier Dark Edition was seen slowly moving on the side of the road. It can be noted that the rear end of this brand-new Harrier also looks quite dented. Now, what exactly happened at the spot is currently unknown. However, our best guess is that the Harrier driver might have applied the brakes on the wet road, and the Fortuner could not stop in time, leading to the crash into the rear end of the Harrier.
Is Tata better than Toyota?
No. No such conclusion can be drawn from the video. Many people in the comment section of the video were stating that the quality of Tata Motors is far superior to Toyota. However, this is not true. Although the Harrier is a five-star rated car, the primary reason it did not suffer as much in this particular incident has to do with the structure of vehicles in general.
The Toyota Fortuner in this video suffered more damage because the front end of all cars has crumple zones. The main aim of these zones is to collapse during a crash. These zones work by managing crash energy and increasing the time over which the deceleration of the occupants of the vehicle occurs. They also prevent intrusion into or deformation of the passenger cabin, which better protects car occupants against injury.
How to prevent rear-end accidents?
As mentioned above, rear-end accidents are very common in most parts of the world. Just like many other types of accidents, they can also be prevented with a few important things to keep in mind. If you want to know what they are, here are four points to help prevent rear-end accidents:

First and foremost, always keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you. Try to maintain a decent amount of distance from the vehicle in front so that in case of sudden braking, you can stop your vehicle in time without crashing.

Always stay attentive on roads. Every driver should pay full attention to the road and surroundings and not use a mobile phone or other devices while driving. Alertness is the key to avoid such accidents.
Brake and Accelerate Smoothly
While driving on any road, sudden braking and acceleration should be avoided. This is one of the most common reasons for rear-end accidents.
Regular Vehicle Maintenance
Always check and maintain the tire pressure of your vehicle. Make sure everything is working perfectly and the vehicle is well-maintained to avoid any unnecessary immediate breakdowns in the middle of the road.
