5 new features expected on the Kia Sonet facelift

The dominance of Tata Nexon has forced the competitors to make their products more feature loaded. Earlier the segment was ruled by Maruti Brezza and Hyundai Venue. The Nexon got a major update pulling it ahead of the competition. Now, to spice up the competition Kia is also updating the Sonet with a facelift and is expected to come with a host of new features. Out of all the expected features, we believe the Sonet facelift will receive these 5 exciting features.

Kia Sonet facelift – ADAS

Recently, Hyundai provided Venue with the first in segment feature, ADAS. It is a camera based ADAS system and covers all the basic assistance features. Now, Sonet being the sister car of Venue, we believe that the Sonet will also receive ADAS with a facelift. With ADAS, Sonet will also become a strong contender for Nexon as Tata’s compact SUV was not equipped with ADAS in the recent facelift. So, if Sonet receives ADAS, it will be the same hardware and features of the Venue. Currently, Hyundai Venue comes with ADAS features like – forward collision warning, forward collision avoidance assist – car, pedestrian & cycle, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning and driver attention warning. For convenience, it comes with lane following assist, high beam assist and leading vehicle departure alert.

Head-up display

Another important feature that we could see on the new Sonet is the head-up display (HUD). Kia is known to offer a long list of features and head-up display could be one of them. The technology isn’t new for them as the Seltos already comes with a heads-up display. For reference, the Seltos gets a 8-inch head-up display and the Sonet could get a similar unit. The information displayed on Seltos HUD are – Turn-by-Turn navigation information, Road signs, Speedometer, Cruise setting speed, Warning lights (low fuel), and AV mode information. Currently, it is the only Maruti Brezza to offer head-up display in the segment.

Electrically adjustable driver seat

To enhance the comfort of the driver of the SUV, Kia could offer the electrically adjustable driver seat with the Sonet facelift. The feature will add an extra sense of convenience to the driver. The Venue already offers electrically adjustable driver seats and the same can be offered on Sonet also. The Nexon also received the feature after the facelift and the Kia may also equip the Sonet with this feature.

360-degree camera

To up the game, Kia could also equip the Sonet facelift with 360-degree camera setup. The 360-degree camera will further enhance the safety as it will help to park the SUV without any damage. It will also help the new learners to park the SUV seamlessly. Currently the Maruti Brezza and new Nexon are offering this feature.

Kia Sonet facelift – Digital instrument cluster

The final expected feature on the Kia Sonet facelift could be the digital instrument cluster. Kia will try to make the Sonet more premium and in the process the brand could offer a digital instrument cluster with the SUV. Kia offered the feature on the Seltos facelift and the same treatment could be given to the Sonet as well. The unit could be similar to the Seltos but a smaller size. It will be a bright and crisp unit with a lot of information to show. Also, the graphics could be different from the Seltos.

Overall, the already feature loaded Kia Sonet is expected to receive more equipment to recreate its identity in the compact SUV segment.
