Punch EV

The Punch EV is going to be Tata’s next ICE that will go through the electrification process. The car has been spotted a fair few times and is going to get some subtle changes in the exterior. We could see a connected DRL design to give it a family look. We also expect all-LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, and different sets of alloy wheels. In the interiors, we could see some blue highlights. Earlier spy shots have showcased the presence of an electronic parking brake and rotary-styled drive mode selector. Other features could include a 10.25-inch touchscreen, 6 airbags, 360-degree camera, all disc brakes and connected car technology. Specs-wise, the Punch EV is expected to come with a 26-30kWh with a claimed range of 330-350km and come with the Gen-2 motor that debuted on the Nexon EV facelift. The Punch EV is expected to be launched by the end of this year or early next year. Also, it is expected to be priced between Rs 13.5 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) to Rs 17 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Upcoming Tata cars – Harrier EV

Upcoming Tata cars

Tata has several EVs, but it wants to enter the big EV space with the Harrier EV. Earlier this year, it showcased the Harrier EV concept at the Auto Expo 2023. Tata has already incorporated a similar design on the Harrier facelift. The EV version could just get some subtle changes to differentiate it from the ICE Harrier. Coming to battery and motor specs, we don’t have any exact number for now. However, we can expect that the Harrier EV would be powered by a 60 to 70kWh battery pack. Tata is claiming that the Harrier EV could get more than 500kms of range. Also, the Harrier EV is certainly coming with an AWD setup as confirmed by Tata Motors in the interview, which you can check out here. The Harrier EV is expected to be launched in the second half of 2024. It’s too early to speculate about the pricing, but we can expect it in the range of Rs 27 lakh and going to Rs 35 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Curvv EV/ICE

Upcoming Tata cars

The Harrier EV is groundbreaking, but the Curvv is surely going to be Tata’s most important product in 2024. The Curvv is going to come in both EV and ICE forms, and the brand has showcased both concepts. The Curvv will be a coupe-SUV, giving it a unique advantage over the competition.

Talking about the specifications, Tata is yet to reveal the exact specifications of the EV version. Recently, Tata claimed that the Curvv EV could get a claimed range of over 500kms. It will come with the new gen-2 motor like the Nexon but will be tuned for more power. The ICE version is confirmed to come with the new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (167bhp/280Nm). Transmission options could include a manual and a DCA gearbox. The lower variants could come with the new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine (123bhp/225Nm). This engine could also come with a manual and DCA gearbox. Diesel duties will be handled by the 1.5-litre engine. Tata could retune it a bit for the Curvv.

Feature-wise, we can expect the 12.3-inch infotainment, 10-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, Harman audio system, ADAS, 6 airbags etc on the Curvv. What about the launch? The Curvv EV is expected to come in mid-2024, and the ICE version is expected to come a few months after the EV version.

Upcoming Tata cars – Harrier/Safari petrol

Upcoming Tata cars

This year, Tata launched the Harrier and Safari facelifts to much fanfare. The Harrier and Safari facelifts come with an all-new design and interiors. Also, we have a lot of new features like a 12.3-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, etc. However, one thing Tata didn’t offer on the facelift was a petrol engine option. For that, you will have to wait just a bit longer. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine will debut on the Curvv and then make its way onto the Harrier/Safari duo. That means we could see the Harrier/Safari petrol by the end of 2024. It should come with a manual and DCA gearbox. Barring the new engine, we don’t think there would be any changes on both the models. The starting price of both SUVs could get lower due to the new petrol engine.
