Whenever we find an old television commercial of any iconic automobile of India, there is a surge of nostalgia. Most recently, we have found an old and forgotten TVC for the legendary Hero Honda CD100 motorcycle. What’s even more interesting is that the main actor who is a part of this TVC is none other than the Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. This commercial of Hero Honda CD100 with Salman Khan is from 1985, and it takes us back down the memory lane.

This nostalgic TVC of the Hero Honda CD100 has been shared on YouTube by Guruprasad GP on their channel. The television commercial uploaded is a combination of three different ads that Salman Khan did for the brand. The first video starts with the then young Salman Khan and another actor on two different Hero Honda CD100 bikes. It shows them in front of a milestone that reads Delhi 400 kms. It then shows both the actors reaching Delhi with some fuel still left in the tank. The main purpose of this was to highlight the high fuel efficiency of the bike.

The second part of the advertisement was once again with the same two actors. However, in this ad, the main highlight was the appearance of the vehicle. Both actors go in front of a girl standing on the side of the road. Both of the actors then sing praises of the Hero Honda CD100 being the best looking bike in the town. Soon after this, a twin of the girl comes, and both actors with each twin ride their bikes, and the video ends.

Finally, the last commercial clip was made to show that the only bike at the time that was close to the Hero Honda CD100 was the Hero Honda CD100. In this advertisement, both actors come riding their bike in a faceoff in front of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of India in New Delhi. The video shows the two different bikes and actors enjoying the joyful riding experience of this light, nimble, and fuel-efficient motorcycle.

For those who are not aware of this iconic Indian motorcycle, the Hero Honda CD100 was one of the most popular and important bikes in India. It gained an immense amount of popularity because of its excellent fuel efficiency. It was claimed by a lot of buyers that the CD100 delivered somewhere around 80 kmpl mileage. When it was launched, it was one of the most affordable bikes in India. In comparison to the big and bulky Royal Enfield and Rajdoot motorcycles, it became a sought-after alternative.

Apart from its affordability and fuel efficiency, the CD 100 was also known for its reliable engine, solid build quality, impressive price tag, and lightweight. The bike was launched with the slogan ‘Fill it, Shut it & Forget it,’ and it became a hit in the country. In terms of the design, it was a very simple bike that came equipped with spoked 18-inch wheels, a square-shaped halogen headlamp, and an analogue instrument cluster.

The bike received drum brakes on both ends, and the suspension duties were carried out by hydraulic telescopic forks in the front and hydraulic dampers at the rear. In total, the Hero Honda CD100 weighed just around 116 kg. Meanwhile, for the power plant, it received a 97 cc, 4-stroke, SOHC, single-cylinder petrol engine. The engine produced a total of 7.5 bhp of power at 8,000 rpm and 7.2 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm. It came mated to a 4-Speed Constant Mesh transmission.
