Upcoming Maruti Cars in India - 2024 Maruti Swift

The best hatchback in India is all set to receive a major upgrade. Maruti Suzuki has already showcased the new avatar of Swift in the Tokyo Motor Show and will soon launch in India. Talking about the new Swift, Maruti has not played much with design. They have retained the overall design language which has been loved by the masses. However, they have made a few subtle changes to make it look fresher.

The new Swift gets SUV-like clamshell bonnet, revised and blacked out LED headlamps, redesigned grille, and sportier bumpers. Towards the side Maruti has made a few important changes. For instance they have repositioned the rear door handles onto the door which were previously placed on the C-pillar. This has allowed them to add a quarter glass which will ultimately make the cabin less claustrophobic. Also, we will see new alloy wheels on the 2024 Maruti Swift. Subtle changes like tweaked tail lamps and tweaked bumpers will make the rear look refreshed.

Interior

Now for the interiors, the new Swift will get a new dashboard layout. What will catch your eyes is the new 9.0-inch floating touchscreen system. Rest, it gets black and white colour interior theme. The new Swift will also come with features like – all new 9.0-inch touchscreen system that could get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also, it now gets ventilated seats, ADAS, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and Suzuki may also enhance the safety by offering 6-Airbags.

Engine Specs and launch date

The new Swift will be powered by a new 1.2-litre K12 3-cylinder petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 100bhp and 150Nm of torque. The engine will probably get the options for manual and AMT transmission options. This new engine comes in hybrid and non-hybrid options with only a CVT gearbox. The all new Maruti Swift is expected to launch in the first half of 2024.

Upcoming Maruti Cars in India – 2024 Maruti Dzire

Along with the Swift hatchback, Maruti will also update its sedan version, the Dzire. What to expect with the new Dzire? Well, design wise the new Dzire will be very similar to the new Swift. However, it may get a different grille and different alloy wheels. At the rear, the Dzire will of course get an extended boot like any other sedan. The sedan will get redesigned tail lamps and bumper compared to the current model. For interiors the new Dzire could get similar layout and features from the new Swift hatchback. However, Maruti may offer a beige and black colour interior in the Dzire. Even the engine and transmission will likely remain the same as the new Swift. Regarding the launch we do not have an exact timeline. However it is said that the new Dzire could launch before the new Swift hatchback.

Upcoming Maruti Cars in India – Grand Vitara 7 seater

Maruti Grand Vitara 7 seater

Maruti entered the Creta segment with Grand Vitrara and took the segment with a storm. The SUV received an amazing demand as the sales surged in a quick succession. However it seems like Maruti does not want to stop here as reports say that the brand is planning to launch a 7-seater version of Grand Vitara. They have an affordable 7-seater option as the Ertiga and an expensive 7-seater Invicto. To fill this gap, Maruti will probably launch the 7-seater Grand Vitara.

What we know?

Grand Vitara

This new SUV will be the Grand Vitara to the core but with an extra third row. In terms of design the 7-seater Grand Vitara will look exactly the same as the current model. However, we can see a different front grille. On the side we will see a new set of alloy wheels and another big differentiation. The side profile will be longer than the current model along with a longer wheelbase. The rear could be redesigned to differentiate it from the 5-seater Grand Vitara. On the inside, the 7-seater Grand Vitara will have a similar interior of the 5-seater. It will probably get a similar dashboard layout and similar list of features. However, it might get a different colour theme and a few additional features.

Third row and Engine specs

The other additional element will be the third row. Maruti will try to offer the third row with a decent amount of legroom and headroom. Also, Maruti will not ignore the third row passengers. They will probably get bottle holders on each side, USB charging ports, AC Vents, and some storage space. Specification wise we can expect Maruti to offer the 7-seater Grand Vitara with the same 1.5-litre petrol and strong hybrid powertrain options. The 1.5-petrol engine produces 101bhp and 137Nm of torque and comes mated with 5-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter gearboxes. Whereas the strong hybrid engine produces 113bhp and 122Nm of torque. The strong hybrid engine comes mated with a sole CVT transmission.

Expected Launch

However, Maruti will have to tweak the hybrid system to carry the weight of the extra seats. The 7-seater Grand Vitara is still a few years away from getting into production. Maruti will definitely try to work with the SUV and soon launch in India. That said, the 7-seater Grand Vitara will be on the expensive side and we can expect it to be priced from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Upcoming Maruti Cars in India – Maruti eVX

Maruti electric SUV - Upcoming Maruti Cars in India

Finally we have the first Maruti electric SUV, the eVX. Maruti previously showcased the concept of eVX at the Auto Expo 2023 and attracted many of us. Later we soon got to see the SUV getting tested which revealed many other details. Recently, they showcased the concept yet again at the Tokyo Motor Show which had more production-ready design. Talking about the eVX, it gets an aggressive front-end with single unit LED headlamps. We are guessing it be the bi-LED headlamps wherein the single bulb has the function of lower and upper beam.

Exterior

The concept was showcased with Y-shaped LED DRLs which might make its way into the production model. Just like any other EVs, the grille was shut on the eVX. It gets an upright bonnet with sharp cuts and creases. The side profile also has interesting elements like attractive alloy wheels and sloping roofline. The rear gets a very clean design with sculpted bootlid and the rear spoiler is also designed to enhance the sporty character of the SUV. The tail lamps are LED units and have unique 3 separate elements. Overall, the eVX looks sporty and sharp with cuts and creases. While the sloping roofline and sweptback style rear adds to the character of the SUV. Now although the eVX concept looks like a production ready product, the interiors are far away from the final results.

Interior

However, they do give us a glimpse of what the interiors of the production model might look like. The concept interiors have the futuristic touch and look straight out of sci-fi movies. The talking point will be the large single display panel on the dashboard that could house a touchscreen system and a digital instrument cluster. It has a very unique yoke-style designed steering wheel. Other interior highlights include a rotary-styled gear lever, ambient lighting and touch-sensitive HVAC controls.

Battery Specs

The eVX will be based on Toyota’s 27PL dedicated skateboard architecture and will probably sell in single and twin electric motor setups. Powering the eVX will be a 60kWh battery pack and the same powertrain will be offered for Toyota’s iteration as well. The said battery pack claims a range of 550km and should return a real life range of 450-500km. There will be a base variant with a smaller battery pack of 48kWh. The real life range of the battery pack would be around 400km. The eVX is in a testing phase and Suxuki will take their time to launch this SUV. It is said that the SUV will be launched two years from now in 2025.
