Mahindra’s best selling SUV to get a major update!

Mahindra’s new SUV lineup has been a major hit with the customers. The XUV700, Scorpio-N and Thar offer customers what they need and more. However, in all this glitter the Bolero continues to be the best seller, which is incredible considering the Bolero has practically remained the same for the last 20-odd years. Now Mahindra is going to change that as the brand has started working on the new-generation Bolero. So here are all the new details of the new Mahindra Bolero.

New platform

According to reports, Mahindra is going to introduce a new platform dubbed U171. Mahindra plans to invest over Rs 2000 crore on this platform. With such a high investment, Mahindra is going to spawn several new SUVs for the domestic and international markets. There will be a minimum of three SUVs based on this platform. The first of these is expected to be the new-gen Bolero with an expected launch around 2026-2027. Mahindra is also going to target the pickup segment with this new platform.

New Mahindra Bolero

Though the new Bolero is in its early stages of development, we can predict some new things by looking at the newer Mahindra models. For starters, we expect the design department would retain its rugged and boxy body styling to keep the Bolero DNA alive. The design could get an aggressive front look with LED headlamps and DRLs. Other exterior changes could include alloy wheels, LED tail lamps and hinged doors.

What else to expect?

Mahindra has a wide variety of engine options at its disposal. Currently, the Bolero comes with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, but seeing Mahindra’s track record, we could see it go all-out with a 2.2-litre diesel engine that powers the Thar. Still, take this information with a pinch of salt, as this is a new platform, it could come with something out of the box too. If we move on to the features, we could see the modern additions like a touchscreen infotainment system, a more civilised dashboard, a better music system, automatic climate control, and comfortable seats in the car.
