Tata Harrier EV Launch by March 2024?

Tata Motors, who are dominating the EV segment in India are set to launch new EV SUVs like Punch EV, Harrier EV, Curvy EV and Safari EV. All these SUVs are said to launch next year in 2024. Out of these, the Harrier EV will be launched way sooner than we expected.

Tata Harrier EV Launch timeline

According to the reports, Tata Curvv EV will go under production in April and will probably get launched by May or June. At the same time, reports say that the Harrier EV will be launched before the Curvv EV. So if Curvv EV could launch around May or June, we can see the launch of the Harrier EV to be launched around March or April.

The Design

Tata has already showcased the Harrier EV concept in Auto Expo 2023. It came with a different design from the regular Harrier. Later in October 2023, Tata launched the Harrier facelift which came with similar design cues of the Harrier EV concept. That said, we can expect the Harrier EV to look very similar to the Harrier facelift. Upfront it will get the connected LED DRLs and vertically positioned LED headlamps, similar grille but closed-one for the EV, and the same upright stance. The side will remain exactly the same and only possible changes could be different alloy wheels and Harrier .EV badging on the front doors. The rear will also be similar with connected LED Tail lamps, sequential turn indicators (for front and rear), roof mounted spoiler, and vertically placed reflectors. Other than that we can expect different designs for the front and rear bumpers.

Tata Harrier EV – Interior and Features

Now the interiors of the Harrier EV concept were not showcased. But, it will likely be based on the current Harrier interior. However, the Harrier EV might get a lighter shade interior unlike the darker shade the regular Harrier has. It will get the same elements like – touch based AC controls, 12.3-inch touchscreen system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 4-spoke steering wheel with illuminated logo, 9-speaker JBL system with subwoofer, ADAS, ambient lighting and a lot more. Also, being an EV, the Harrier could get the V2V and V2L, EV specific features. Other than that, the Harrier EV will be an AWD SUV and so we can expect a rotary dial to select different AWD modes.

Expected battery and range

Not once has Tata Motors hinted at the expected battery size for the Harrier EV. However, we highly expect the Harrier EV to get the claimed range of around 500kms. For such a range we can expect 50kWh to 60kWh battery pack. Further, we also have no power figures of the electric motors. But, what we do know is that the Harrier EV will come equipped with dual electric motors, one on the either axles, making it capable of an AWD system.
