Kia Sonet Facelift Unveiled – All Details

After a long wait and anticipation, we finally have the Kia Sonet facelift in flesh. We have been covering all the details of the spy pictures and the recently leaked brochure. In fact the leaked brochure revealed all the details of the SUV. So today, as we have the SUV in pictures, let us take a detailed overview of the Kia Sonet facelift.

Kia Sonet Facelift – Exterior

So talking about the exterior, Kia has done certain changes to make the Sonet look fresher than before. Upfront we have all new LED Headlamps and LED DRLs, redesigned bumpers, and Kia’s new tiger nose front grille. The grille also houses a front camera which is a part of the new 360-degree camera setup. Towards the side the only visible change is the set of new alloy wheels, and cameras underneath the ORVMs. Whereas for the rear profile we have new connected LED tail lamps and again, redesigned rear bumpers. Also, Kia has introduced the Pewter Olive body colour which was previously seen on the Seltos facelift.

Interior

The interior layout of the new Sonet is very much similar to the outgoing model. The only noticeable changes are the new control panel for the automatic climate control, new steering mounted control for ADAS, and the new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Also, the new Sonet gets black colour interiors with brown inserts. Rest, the interior layout is exactly the same as before. On the other hand, the boot space of the new Sonet has been reduced from 392 litres to 385 litres. The revision of boot space could have been done with interest in improving the recline angle of the rear seats.

Kia Sonet Facelift – New Features

Kia has updated the feature list of the new Sonet which gets a host of new features. The list includes – 4-way powered driver’s seat, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, rear disc brakes, LED sound ambient lighting, remote windows glass up and down, rear sun blinds, find my car with surround view monitor and camera based Level 1 ADAS system with 10 functionalities. Other than that, Sonet continues to get a 10.25-inch touchscreen system, 7-speaker Bose sound system, ventilated front seats, and Air Purifier with virus and bacteria protection.

Safety Features

With the Sonet facelift, Kia has standardised as many as 15 safety features across the variants. The list includes – 6-Airbags, ABS with EDB, Brake Force Assist System, Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill Start Assist Control, Rear Parking Sensors, Emergency Stop Signal, TPMS, 3-point seatbelts for all 5 seats, Seatbelt reminder for all 5 seats, Impact Sensing Auto Door Unlock, and Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock.

Kia Sonet Facelift – Engine Specifications

The new Sonet will continue to get same engines as before. There’s a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 81bhp and 115Nm torque mated with a 5-speed manual transmission. Then we have the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 118bhp and 172Nm torque, mated to 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT. Finally we have the 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 114bhp and 250Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 6-speed iMT, 6-speed torque converter and 6-speed manual transmission, which has returned again with the facelift.

Expected Pricing

At the event, Kia has announced that the bookings for the new Sonet will start from 20th December 2023. Soon after that we can expect the official price announcement of the Sonet facelift. Talking about the expected price range, the new Sonet could be priced between Rs 9.13 lakh to Rs 18.70 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
