Maruti Suzuki WagonR
Topping the list is none other than the Maruti WagonR. The WagonR has been one of Maruti’s best-selling cars in the last two decades. Maruti sold 16,567 units of the WagonR in November, a major drop from the 22,080 units sold in October. The WagonR comes with two engine options 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol (65bhp/89Nm) and 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol (88bhp/113Nm). Both engines come with manual and AGS gearbox. We also have a CNG option on the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine. Pricing of the WagonR starts from Rs 6.48 lakh and goes to Rs 8.69 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Top hatchbacks in India – Maruti Swift
The Swift is another heavy-weight nameplate in the hatchback segment. In November, Maruti sold 15,311 units of the Swift. A major drop from the 20,598 units sold in October. The Swift is soon getting a generational upgrade and that could further boost its sales. Currently, the Swift comes with a reliable 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine capable of producing 88bhp and 113Nm of torque. There is also a CNG option for mileage-conscious buyers. Pricing of the Swift starts from Rs 7.03 lakh and goes to Rs 10.50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
Maruti’s premium hatchback is raking in the sales for the brand. In November, Maruti sold 12,961 units of the Baleno. A drop from the 16,594 units sold in October. The Baleno almost offers everything from reliability to a truckload of features. Engine-wise, the Baleno comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine capable of producing 88bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission options include a manual and AGS gearbox. In the features department, the Baleno doesn’t disappoint with a 360-degree camera, heads-up display, and 9.0-inch infotainment. All this at a price starting from Rs 7.96 lakh and going to Rs 11.41 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Maruti Suzuki Alto
The last Maruti car on this list is the humble Alto. Entry-level car sales have fallen in the last few years with the purchasing power of people going up. Still, a decent chunk of buyers buy the Alto as their first car. In November, Maruti sold 8,076 units of the Alto. A major drop from the 11,200 units sold in October. The Alto now only comes with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine capable of producing 65bhp and 89Nm of torque. Transmission options include a manual and AMT gearbox. Feature-wise, the Alto K10 comes with 4 speakers, 7-inch infotainment, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and steering-mounted audio controls. The price of the Alto K10 starts from Rs 4.72 lakh and goes to Rs 6.93 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Top hatchbacks in India – Hyundai i20
The only non-Maruti car on the list is the Hyundai i20. The facelift of the i20 has helped Hyundai to do constant 5k to 6k sales. In November, Hyundai sold 5,727 units of the i20. A drop from the 7,212 units sold in October. The i20 comes with only one engine option which is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine capable of producing 82bhp and 115Nm of torque. Transmission options include a manual or a CVT gearbox. Feature-wise, it comes with a 10.25-inch infotainment, sunroof, Bose sound system, 6-airbags standard, wireless phone charger etc. The price of the i20 starts from Rs 8.25 lakh and goes to Rs 13.29 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
