Compact SUV

Upcoming Volkswagen cars

Skoda is working on a compact SUV that will rival the likes of Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Maruti Brezza. With their partnership, we think Volkswagen could also bring a compact SUV in the future. It is expected to be based on a downsized version of the MQB A0 IN that underpins the Taigun. Like the platform, we could see a design similar to the Taigun. Other exterior highlights could include LED headlamps & DRLs, 17-inch alloy wheels, and connected tail lamps. Under the hood, it could come with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 115bhp and 178Nm of torque. Skoda has stated that it plans to launch its iteration by the end of 2024, so we can expect the Volkswagen compact SUV by mid-2025. We can expect the pricing to start from Rs 10 lakh and go to Rs 20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Upcoming Volkswagen cars – Polo GTi

The most loved Volkswagen car in India could make a comeback with a twist. According to rumours, Volkswagen is contemplating bringing the Polo GTi in limited numbers to India through the CBU route. The GTi is the performance-centric version of the Polo. The Polo GTi is based on the MQB A0 platform and comes with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Volkswagen claims a 0 to 100 kmph time of just 6.5 seconds. What about the launch? Volkswagen is still evaluating the prospect, so there is no definitive launch timeline. Pricing-wise, the Polo GTi would be expensive as it will come through the CBU route. We expect the Polo GTi to be priced at Rs 30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

New Tiguan

Upcoming Volkswagen cars

Recently, Volkswagen globally unveiled the all-new Tiguan. Volkswagen hasn’t confirmed its India launch, but we expect it sooner or later. Talking about the new Tiguan, it comes with a sporty look compared to the outgoing model. It comes with LED headlamps and connected tail lamps. The interiors have also gotten sportier with an all-black theme complemented by red highlights. At the centre of it, we have a new 15-inch infotainment system. Other features include a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, front massage seats, a heads-up display, a wireless phone charger, Park Assist Pro with remote capability, and trailer assist. In India, the Tiguan should continue with the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. What about the pricing? The new Tiguan could be priced around the Rs 50 lakh mark (on-road, Mumbai).

ID.4

Upcoming Volkswagen cars

Volkswagen’s first EV in India is going to be the ID.4. The brand has been testing the car in India for some time now, and its launch is expected in the first half of 2024. Design-wise, the ID.4 comes with a minimalistic but modern design language. We have LED headlamps and bonnet-wide DRL. The side profile gives it an SUV crossover look. At the rear, we have Taigun-like connected tail lamps. The ID.4 could come with either a 295bhp all-wheel drive setup or a 201bhp rear-wheel drive setup. Its range varies from 480km to 520km (WLTP cycle). Feature-wise, it comes with a 10.0-inch floating infotainment system, Front massage seats, ambient lighting, and connected car technology. The ID.4 could be priced from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 60 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Upcoming Volkswagen cars – 7-seater

Volkswagen has confirmed that it is working on a three-row SUV to replace the Tiguan All Space. This SUV could be called the Tayron and will be a global offering. It will be noticeably longer than the Tiguan all-space to properly accommodate the third row. According to reports, the Tayron will come in 5-seater and 7-seater options. In India, the Tayron could come with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine similar to the Kodiaq. According to reports, Volkswagen plans to unveil the Tayron by the end of 2024 and its launch in India is expected by the first half of 2025. Pricing-wise, we can expect the Tayron to range from Rs 40 lakh to Rs 50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
