Mahindra Thar 5-door interior showcased?

The Thar is not a practical car for most customers, which is why Mahindra is working on the Thar 5-door. With extra space, it could offer practicality making it a great option for families. We have been covering all the details of this upcoming SUV. Now, the skeleton interiors of the Thar 5-door have been showcased by Mahindra to a bunch of foreign journalists. Let’s talk about the Thar 5-door interior.

Thar 5-door Interior Details

The Thar 5-door interior seems to be going through some sort of testing at Mahindra’s research valley in Chennai. From the upright design, it is easy to guess this dashboard is of the Thar. There are main differences compared to the Thar 3-door. Firstly, we have a large touchscreen cut-out probably for a 10-inch system. Another major change is the dual-tone black and brown colour scheme on the dashboard. We expect this dual-tone treatment also on the seats and other elements. The button placement is also slightly tweaked compared to the 3-door model. Barring the spotted details, the Thar 5-door is also expected to come with a sunroof, three-spoke steering wheel, roof-mounted speakers and AdrenoX connect.

Known things

Exterior design-wise, the Thar 5-door gets some minor tweaks. We have circular LED headlamps and a new grille. The front bumper is also slightly tweaked with fog lamps. Other exterior changes could include new alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. Under the hood, we could see the 2.0-litre petrol (200bhp/370Nm) and 2.2-litre diesel engine (172bhp/370Nm). The transmission option should include a manual and an automatic option on both these engines.

Launch

Mahindra has confirmed that it plans to launch the Thar 5-door sometime in 2024. Seeing Mahindra’s track record, it could be the 26th of January or the 15th of August. What about the pricing? The Thar could start from Rs 18 lakh and go to Rs 23 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
