Renault Kiger compact SUV exports commence from India

Earlier this year, Renault India launched their first sub-4 metre compact SUV Kiger in Indian market. Renault Kiger is currently the most affordable compact SUV in the segment and it quickly became popular among buyers for its looks and price. Renault India has  now commenced exports of its sub-4 metre compact SUV Renault KIGER to South Africa. Renault Kiger is a product that was developed and manufactured here in India. Renault also launched the Kiger in India first and are now taking it to international markets.

Renault’s diverse range of offerings in passenger vehicles has been consistently well-received by the people of South Africa. Our latest offering Renault KIGER will further bolster our existing portfolio in the country with its distinctive SUV look, great space, smart features and world-class sporty engine.” 

He also added that Renault is looking forward to expand the exports of Kiger to many international markets soon including Indonesia, other parts of Africa and SAARC region, along with growing our customer base in India. First batch of Renault Kiger to South Africa has already been despatched from Chennai Port. First batch consisted on 760 units of Renault Kiger compact SUV.

Renault Kiger is based on CMF A+ platform. It is the same platform that is used in Renault Kwid, Triber and Nissan Magnite. The Kiger is offered with features like all LED headlamps, LED DRLs, dual tone alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, digital instrument cluster and so on.

Renault also introduced an innovative way to reach out to customers. The Renault KIGER Virtual Studio is a state-of-the-art virtual studio which enables 360 degree views in seamless fashion and allows the customers to configure, accessorise and make online bookings. It is an overall customised consumer journey which allows complete access to information and customisation on Renault KIGER. Renault is also working on expanding dealer and service network. Currently, Renault India has more than 500 sales and service touchpoints in India, which include 200+ Workshop On Wheels locations across the country.

Coming back to Renault Kiger, the SUV competes with cars like Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in the segment. The Kiger is available with two engine options. Both are petrol engines. There is a 1.0 litre, three cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 72 Ps and 96 Nm of torque. This engine is offered with 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox. Next engine option is a 1.0 litre, three cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. This engine generates 100 Ps and 160 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with a 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox option.
