Skoda Kushaq compact SUV: New TVC released

Skoda launched their mid-size SUV Kushaq in the market recently. The mid-size SUV competes with cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster and Nissan Kicks in the segment. Kushaq is an important product for Skoda in the Indian market as this is the first SUV to come out under brands new India 2.0 strategy. It is based on the VISION IN concept that was showcased to us at the Auto Expo last year. The bookings and delivery for the Kushaq has already started and Skoda has also released a new TVC for the all-new Kushaq.

The video has been shared by Skoda India on their YouTube channel. Skoda Kushaq is based on MQB A0 IN platform which is specifically designed for Indian conditions. The Kushaq is a mid size SUV and it has a design that looks similar to other bigger SUVs from Skoda line up. It has a design that is inspired from Kushaq and Karoq SUVs.

The front gets Skoda’s signature butterfly grille with chrome outlines. The sleek headlamps are placed next to the grille and LED DRLs are also integrated in it. The fog lamps are placed right below the headlamps. Kushaq gets a muscular looking bumper at the front with a black cladding and grey coloured faux skid plate on the lower part of the bumper.

Moving to the side profile, Skoda Kushaq comes with 17 inch dual tone alloy wheels and the thick cladding around the wheel arches and the lower portion on the door gives it an SUV like look. Skoda also offers features like roof rails, shark fin antenna and roof mounted spoiler. At the rear, it gets split LED tail lamps with Skoda branding on the center of the boot. Kushaq branding can also be seen on the tail gate. The bumper gets a faux silver finished skid plate to give it an SUV like look.

Skoda Kushaq may not be the most feature loaded SUV in the segment but, it does offer decent amount of features that one might need. It is offered with touchscreen infotainment screen, electric sunroof, automatic climate control that can be controlled using touch panels on the center console, The seats get dual tone leather upholstery, ventilated seats at the front, wireless phone charging, Skoda’s own 6-speaker system and so on.

One of the feature that Skoda is currently offering with the Kiushaq is the Active Cylinder Technology where two of four cylinders shut down when not pressure is being put on the engine. This is helpful as it improves the overall fuel efficiency of the car.

Skoda Kushaq is offered with two petrol engine options. There is a 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine that generates 115 Ps and 178 Nm of peak torque. This engine is offered with manual and automatic transmission option. The 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine generates 150 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with manual and 7-speed DSG gearbox option. Prices for Skoda Kushaq start at Rs 10.50 lakh, ex-showroom and go up to Rs 17.60 lakh, ex-showroom.
